S510 Overview
Logitech's S510 is one of the smartest-looking products in this test. It's wireless, and uses two AAA and two AA batteries, which are included. The receiver looks good, too, and can connect to either one USB or two PS/2 ports.
The keyboard is flat, with a large wrist rest area. The keys don't travel very far but click when pressed. They're not bad, but we prefer the keys on Microsoft's cheaper Optical Desktop 1000. There are lots of useful shortcut buttons on the two edges of the keyboard, including buttons for controlling the system volume plus zoom and rotate controls for photo editing.
The mouse is very comfortable to use. It has a tiltable scroll wheel, but when you click the wheel itself it feels stiff and unpleasant. It uses an 'invisible optic' mechanism, which is unusual; this means there's no red glow from the bottom of the mouse, but Logitech has added a separate light to show when the mechanism is working.
